White Oak Timber frame

Shortly after we married my husband Warner started working with a gentleman that constructs and builds Timber frame (Post and Beam). I could never really get hold of the idea until I actually saw someones personal home. How beautiful! We added a Timber frame to the back of our home, and it is where we spend all of our time. I could live in solely constructed Timber frame the rest of my life. The harvest process of timbers is highly regulated for conservation purposes. Ours is of "White Oak". Each timber is milled individually by hand, each joint is notched by hand, and the individual pegs (8 sided) that hold post and beams are also hand constructed. When finished it is rubbed down a final time with a combination of tung oil and linseed oil. Traditionally the men that then put these together also have a Timber frame and move onto the next voluntarily just as they would have done years ago.
